Demolition in Hadleigh: what to know
Hadleigh lies on the A13 between Benfleet and Leigh-on-Sea in Castle Point, with a compact shopping centre on London Road and housing that is almost entirely late 19th and 20th century. To the south it gives way to Hadleigh Castle and the country park, and to the north to the semi-rural lanes of Daws Heath.
Regeneration interest in Hadleigh centres on the town centre, where the A13 gyratory separates the shopping parades from one another. The Hadleigh Island site between London Road and the High Street, which holds the library, community buildings and a vacant former pub, has been promoted for homes above commercial space; a 2011 masterplan for the centre was not implemented. In Florence Gardens the Article 4 direction removes some permitted development rights, so external changes need permission. London Road carries frequent buses, which restricts where a skip or lorry can stand.
For blocks and conversions, include the stairs, shared entrances and any bin-store access when you enquire. These affect the carrying and the price. Send photos of the structure and the access and we'll send a free estimate for demolition, loading and disposal. If the job turns out different on the day, with more to take down or harder access than described, we agree any change with you before we start.
Check with Castle Point Borough Council about any permissions or demolition notice before agreeing a start date. Tell us if you suspect asbestos so any specialist work can be arranged before demolition.
