Terms

Terms of service

These terms apply to every booking with LM Waste Management Ltd (registered in England, company no. 10117152). By booking you agree to them. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights.

Prices and payment

  • Prices shown on this website include VAT at 20% unless marked ex VAT. The price you book is the price you pay, provided the waste matches what you booked. Anything extra on the day is agreed with you first.
  • Item collections are priced per item, for items left out the front of the property or somewhere easy to reach, with our crew loading them. Carrying out from inside the property is charged by the hour at the rate shown when you book; any more time on the day is charged at the same rate. Anything extra on the day is priced from the same list and agreed with you before it is loaded.
  • Clearances and other jobs we price individually get a free estimate, based on what you tell us and the photos you send. If the job turns out different on the day, for example more waste or harder access than described, we agree any change with you before we start. Nothing extra is charged unless you have agreed it.
  • Wait and load is priced by the truck load and paid for in advance. See the wait and load section below for what happens if you need more space or time.
  • For one-off bookings: Payment is taken by card when we confirm your booking, by phone or a secure payment link.
  • Trade accounts are invoiced monthly on 14-day terms once agreed in writing.

Booking days

Bookings are for Monday to Friday, except bank holidays. Item collections run on our Tuesday and Thursday rounds, booked by 4pm the working day before.

Cancellation of one-off bookings

Free cancellation up to 4pm the working day before. After that a £42 call-out (£35 + VAT) is charged, or the price of your booking if that is less, and if you've already paid we refund the rest. For a skip, once the lorry has left to deliver it, the wasted journey fee is £60 (£50 + VAT) instead of the call-out.

Booking as a private person, not a business? You can also cancel within 14 days after the day you book, explained in the next section. If you cancel inside those 14 days, what you pay is set out there.

Your right to cancel (households)

If you book as a private person, not for a business (for example for your own home or a relative's), the law gives you 14 days to cancel your booking without giving a reason. Businesses, and landlords booking for a property they let out, don't have this right: the rest of these terms apply to them.

  • How long you have. Your 14 days start the day after you book and end at the end of the 14th day. For example, book on 1 June and you can cancel up to the end of 15 June. A skip bag bought on its own, with the collection booked later, is goods rather than a service: its 14 days start the day after it is delivered. If you cancel after the bag has arrived, keep it unused and folded and we collect it free of charge. We refund you within 14 days of the day you tell us.
  • How to cancel. Tell us clearly that you want to cancel: call or text 07854 266268 or email info@lmwaste.co.uk, with your booking reference if you have it, or write to us at our registered office. You can use the cancellation form below, but you don't have to. It is enough to send your message before your 14 days end.
  • If you want the job done within your 14 days. We only come inside your 14 days if you ask us to. When the day you pick is within 14 days of booking, the booking form asks you to tick a box to say so. If you have asked us and then cancel, you pay for what we have done for your job up to the time you tell us, worked out from the full price, and we refund the rest. Once the job is done, you can't cancel it.
  • Your refund. We refund what you have paid, less anything you owe us under this section, within 14 days of the day you tell us. It goes back to the card you paid with, and there is no charge for the refund.
  • How this fits with the late cancellation charges. Cancelling before 4pm on the working day before your job is always free. At 4pm on the working day before, we start work on your job: it goes on the next day's round, and the crew, the vehicle, the route and the tip space are set aside for you. So if you asked us to start within your 14 days and cancel after that, you pay for that work: the £42 call-out (£35 + VAT), or the price of your booking if that is less. For a skip, once the lorry has left to deliver it, the journey has been made for you, so it is the £60 wasted journey fee (£50 + VAT) instead. If you cancel inside your 14 days without having asked us to start within them, you pay nothing. After your 14 days, the charges above apply as they are written.

If we have to cancel

If we have to cancel or can't come on the day you booked, for example because of bad weather or a breakdown, we tell you as soon as we can and offer you another day. If no other day suits you, we refund everything you have paid for that booking.

What we can't take

Asbestos, clinical waste, loose chemicals, fuels and oils, and anything we judge unsafe. Waste oil and contaminated fuel are collected only through our oil waste service. Fridges, electricals, mattresses, tyres and paint are accepted only when booked as such. Gas bottles are accepted when declared: they are collected separately, never in a skip, and priced by type on a quote agreed with you first. Prohibited items found in a skip, including undeclared gas bottles, are left on site or charged at the correct disposal rate.

Skips

  • 10 days' hire is included; extra weeks are charged as listed.
  • Skips must be loaded level with the rim. Overfilled skips will be levelled and the excess left.
  • Road skips require a council licence, which we obtain for you. The price is confirmed on enquiry and agreed before you book. Delivery waits for the licence.
  • You are responsible for ensuring the skip can be placed on your property without damage to surfaces; we take reasonable care and are not liable for marks on block paving, tarmac or lawns from a correctly placed skip.
  • Unauthorised waste added to a skip by third parties remains your responsibility. Skips on the road must be kept lit; we fit the lamps.

Wait and load

Wait and load prices cover the truck, the driver and disposal. The driver helps, but you must supply enough help to do the loading, and have the waste ready when the truck arrives. The truck waits up to 15 minutes for a quarter load, 30 for a half load, 45 for a three-quarter load and 60 for a full load.

  • You choose the load size and pre-pay for that space on the truck. Size descriptions and bin-bag equivalents on this website are a guide only. You choose the size, so we are not liable if it turns out too small or too large for your waste, and unused space is not refunded.
  • The driver will tell you when you have reached the space or the waiting time you paid for. Nothing further is loaded, and the truck does not wait longer, until the extra has been paid for.
  • Extra space is charged at £54 (£45 ex VAT) per cubic yard and extra waiting time at £30 (£25 ex VAT) per 15 minutes, subject to room on the truck and the driver's next job. Both can be paid for online at the time.
  • Fridges, mattresses, tyres, paint and plasterboard are charged on top because they are tipped separately.

Access and safety

We need safe access for the crew and vehicle. Item collection prices are for items left out the front of the property or somewhere easy to reach. Carrying out from inside, from any floor including the ground floor, is charged by the hour at £72 an hour; above the first floor with no lift there is also a stairs charge of £18 a floor. Clearances we estimate include carrying out, priced for the floors and access you describe. We may decline a job we consider unsafe, with no charge to you.

Liability

We hold £10m public liability insurance. If you book for a business, or for a property you let out, our liability for loss or damage is limited to the amount of our public liability insurance cover, and does not include loss of profit or loss of business. If you book as a household, for your own home, that limit does not apply: we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or not using reasonable care and skill. We never limit our liability where the law does not allow it. We are an Environment Agency licensed carrier (CB/DU308513) and issue a waste transfer note for every collection, or a hazardous waste consignment note where the law needs one.

Complaints

If something isn't right, tell us: call 07854 266268 or email info@lmwaste.co.uk. We reply within 5 working days.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
