From our yard
Corringham is 20 minutes from our Wickford yard via the A132 south to the A13 at Pitsea, A13 west to the Five Bells junction, then the B1420 into Corringham, so same-day wait and load and clearances are realistic when you book before 11am. Skips, skip bags and the grab come from the next working day. Item collections run on our Tuesday and Thursday rounds, booked by 4pm the working day before.
We cover
Corringham town centre (Grover Walk), Frost Estate, Fobbing, The Manorway (A1014), Springhouse Road, Lampits Hill, St Mary's Church and London Gateway
Access
Mostly post-war semis and terraces with driveways or garage blocks, which usually leaves room for a skip off the road; Fobbing and the lanes towards the marshes are narrower and rural.

Corringham at a glance

Homes

Corringham is largely twentieth-century housing laid out in estates: the Frost Estate and Giffords Cross Estate around Central Avenue and Pembroke Avenue, and the Lampits Hill Estate with roads such as Windsor Avenue. Semi-detached bungalows from the 1950s and chalet bungalows from the 1960s and 1970s are common. The old village around St Mary's Church and the Bull Inn has been a conservation area since 1973. Flats sit above the shops at St John's Way and the pedestrianised Grover Walk, so bulky items there must come down stairs before reaching a vehicle.

Building work

Extensions, dormer conversions and refits of 1950s bungalows and later chalet bungalows are typical jobs in Corringham, on roads such as Lampits Hill and Fobbing Road. Thurrock Council has also consulted on new affordable homes on its land at The Geerings. In old Corringham, the conservation area around St Mary's Church contains eight listed buildings, and demolition, tree work and some external alterations are controlled there. Lampits Hill is a main route to the A13 and parked vehicles gather by its shopping parade, so a skip is better kept on a driveway where possible.

Businesses

Corringham's centre comprises St John's Way and the pedestrianised Grover Walk, with 59 units including supermarkets, a post office, takeaways and two restaurants; parking is free on-street around St John's Way and in car parks at Gordon Road. A parade of 27 units lines Lampits Hill, with nine units at Woodbrooke Way and a convenience store at Gardner Avenue. Along The Manorway to the south-east, the London Gateway logistics park and the former Coryton refinery site generate pallets, packaging and industrial waste, while the town's shops produce mainly cardboard, food waste and fit-out debris.
