Rubbish clearance & skip hire in Tilbury

Tilbury grew up as a dock town beside the Port of Tilbury, and most of its housing is terraces and flats laid out between Calcutta Road, St Chad's Road and the railway. The port and the warehousing off the A1089 make it one of the main freight and logistics areas in Thurrock.

From our yard
Tilbury is 25 minutes from our Wickford yard via the A132 south to the A13 at Pitsea, A13 west, then the A1089 south to Tilbury, so same-day wait and load and clearances are realistic when you book before 11am. Skips, skip bags and the grab come from the next working day. Item collections run on our Tuesday and Thursday rounds, booked by 4pm the working day before.
We cover
Port of Tilbury, Tilbury Fort, London Cruise Terminal, Civic Square, Calcutta Road, Dock Road, St Chad's Road and Thurrock Park Way
Access
Mostly terraced houses and blocks of flats with limited off-street parking, so a skip commonly needs a road permit, and the A1089 dock approach carries heavy lorry traffic to the port.
Council
Thurrock Council · about 14,184 residents

Tilbury at a glance

Homes

Tilbury grew with its docks from the late nineteenth century, and much of its housing is council-built: the urban district council formed in 1912 began a programme that ran through the 1920s, and the Broadway Estate followed in the 1960s. Residential streets including Adelaide Road, Toronto Road, Malta Road and Dock Road lie within controlled parking zones T1 to T4, which operate Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm. Before bulky furniture or garden waste is cleared, it helps to check whether a collection vehicle can stop outside during those hours.

Building work

The Tilbury Town Deal, awarded in July 2021, is funding public-realm improvements at Civic Square, a gateway scheme around Tilbury Town station and heritage links along Ferry Road towards the riverside and Tilbury Fort. The 1960s Broadway Estate has been through a regeneration programme that included self-build homes, and the inter-war council houses are the kind of stock that attracts refurbishment, rear extensions and loft work. Dock Road is a busy through-road and the neighbouring streets are in controlled parking zones, so skip positions and lorry stops are worth agreeing before work starts.

Businesses

The Port of Tilbury shapes local commerce, handling containers, timber, paper, cars and bulk cargo, with the Tilbury2 terminal, the London Cruise Terminal and the warehouses of London Distribution Park and Thurrock Park Way close by. These sites generate pallets, packaging, strapping and damaged stock. In the town, the central shopping area takes in Civic Square, Calcutta Road and Montreal Road, a second group of shops and cafes lines Dock Road beside Tilbury Town station, and parades stand on St Chad's Road. Traders are mostly independents, producing cardboard, food waste and shopfitting debris.

“Great friendly service from LM waste. They used a small iveco truck with hiab to remove 4 x 1 tonne bulk bags of soil and rubble from outside my house. The access road is unmade, narrow and unsuitable for the usual large skip/ grab lorry. I will be using them again. Thanks very much.”

“Very good service. We had a big pile of timber panels from old sheds. They picked them all up and left the place tidy.”
