Essex Highways issues skip licences here, not the district council. A skip on your drive needs nothing; on the road it needs a licence, and we apply for you. Allow 10 working days. Loughton at a glance

Homes

Loughton divides into distinct housing areas. The west side of the High Road was built up from about 1881, and the hilly streets of Little Cornwall, around York Hill, Staples Road and Baldwins Hill, form three conservation areas beside Epping Forest. The Roding Estate in the south dates from between the wars, and Debden is a London County Council estate of 1947 to 1952 with terraced houses and flats above the shops on The Broadway. Goldings Manor is a modern estate of detached houses. Upper-floor flats and steep forest-edge lanes mean more carrying than the detached plots.

House clearance in Loughton

Building work

A major housing site in Loughton is the former college land on Borders Lane in Debden, which has permission for more than 400 homes in blocks of up to five storeys, and the 1950s shops and flats on The Broadway are being refurbished. Elsewhere, work consists largely of extensions, loft conversions and refits of Victorian, Edwardian and inter-war houses. In the York Hill, Staples Road and Baldwins Hill conservation areas the roads are hilly and planning controls are tighter, so skip lorries need careful routing and any skip placed on the highway must be licensed.

Businesses

Loughton has two main shopping streets: the High Road, with multiples, independents and a long run of restaurants, and The Broadway in Debden, a 1950s parade with flats above. Epping Forest Shopping Park on Langston Road adds large-format stores. Industry and offices are concentrated on the Langston Road estate, which includes the banknote printing works, car showrooms and trade warehouses, and on the Oakwood Hill Industrial Estate beside the Central line. Both are reached from Chigwell Lane. Waste streams include restaurant food and glass, retail packaging and industrial trade waste.

“Very polite and efficient. Excellent quick turnaround, job well done 👍”

Dawne D. · Google review, 2024

“We used the company to clear my late father’s garden which was heavily overgrown with sheds full of rubbish collected over 30 years in the house (hoarding). The garden was inaccessible and difficult to get into. During a heatwave Levi and his team cleared the garden back to basic as we requested which required significant work. From first contact we received professional responses and an initial timescale of availability. We then had a site visit and a further discussion on how long it would take and the cost being clear about what was involved in the costs but also confirming how the waste would be disposed of. They ensured the parking area and communal paths were cleaned following the work. We would highly recommend the company.”
