Skip Bags in Corringham: what to know

Corringham adjoins Stanford-le-Hope and is made up largely of post-war estates around a precinct-style town centre, with the older village of Fobbing on its eastern edge. The Manorway (A1014) runs past it to the London Gateway port and the former Coryton refinery site.

Corringham is largely twentieth-century housing laid out in estates: the Frost Estate and Giffords Cross Estate around Central Avenue and Pembroke Avenue, and the Lampits Hill Estate with roads such as Windsor Avenue. Semi-detached bungalows from the 1950s and chalet bungalows from the 1960s and 1970s are common. The old village around St Mary's Church and the Bull Inn has been a conservation area since 1973. Flats sit above the shops at St John's Way and the pedestrianised Grover Walk, so bulky items there must come down stairs before reaching a vehicle.

The bag needs to be within about 4 metres of where the lorry can park, on your side of the wall. Out on the lanes around Corringham a skip needs a firm, level spot off the road, and we check the lorry can turn before we deliver.

Because the bag sits on your own land, there's no licence from Thurrock Council to arrange. Tell us when it's full and we collect within five working days.

Typical Corringham jobs. Garage and loft clear-outs on the post-war estates; garden waste and shed removals from larger plots towards Fobbing; commercial waste from businesses along The Manorway and at London Gateway.

Site
Linford Household Waste and Recycling Centre, Buckingham Hill Road, Linford, SS17 0PP
Hours
Open every day 8am to 4pm all year (gates shut 15 minutes before closing). Closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Day, Good Friday and Easter Sunday; New Year's Eve 8am to 12 noon.
Rules
No booking is needed, but the site is for Thurrock residents only and proof of address is required; trade waste is refused. Small vans and single-axle trailers under 1.8m need a council permit (6 visits a year, or 2 for a hired vehicle), trailers are only admitted on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and larger vehicles such as Ford Transits, Luton vans, tippers, flatbeds and minibuses are not allowed in. Alternative: Linford is the only household waste site in Thurrock. Essex County Council centres such as Pitsea are restricted to residents of the Essex County Council area, so Thurrock households cannot use them, even though Pitsea is close to Corringham.

“Excellent service, called up about the removal of some building waste and they collected it the next day for a reasonable price. Hassle free experience, would recommend!”

“Great friendly service from LM waste. They used a small iveco truck with hiab to remove 4 x 1 tonne bulk bags of soil and rubble from outside my house. The access road is unmade, narrow and unsuitable for the usual large skip/ grab lorry. I will be using them again. Thanks very much.”
