WEEE & Appliances in Romford: what to know
Romford is the largest town in Havering, with a ring-road town centre of shops, offices and newer flats surrounded by inter-war suburbs such as Collier Row, Gidea Park and Rush Green and the post-war Harold Hill estate. Permit parking zones operate on streets near the centre, and any skip on the road needs a Havering Council licence.
Romford's housing changes by district. Victorian streets lie south of the railway and east of the Market Place. Collier Row is a 1930s estate north of the town, Gidea Park includes the Exhibition houses of 1910-11, built as Romford Garden Suburb, and Harold Hill is a London County Council estate of 1948-58, mainly brick terraces with some flats. Inter-war houses often have a drive and a side gate to the back garden. In terraces, and in flats around Waterloo Road, items usually come out through the house or down shared stairs.
Gerpins Lane Reuse and Recycling Centre accepts electricals. Free for residents of Havering, Barking and Dagenham, Newham and Redbridge who show a current council tax bill or driving licence. Cars with ordinary household waste need no booking, but vans under 3,500kg, trailers and any DIY or renovation waste must be booked in advance, and Luton vans, tippers, flatbeds and tail-lift vans are refused. A small fridge in the back of the car is possible; a fridge-freezer or American-style unit usually isn't.
Tell us about parking and loading restrictions near your Romford address, and where the truck could legally stop. A photo of the road helps us plan the collection.
