The town's own recycling centre on Perry Road takes cars only, closes on Thursdays and does not accept DIY waste or rubble.
Witham has two historic cores: Chipping Hill, the Saxon settlement around St Nicolas' Church, and Newland Street, the high street, which lies in the Witham Town Centre Newland Street conservation area. Around them lie three large council estates built on the west and north sides for London overspill in the late 1960s and 1970s, including Templars off Cressing Road, with a smaller one to the south. Later housing includes the Maltings Lane estate of the early 2000s and Rivenhall Park off Forest Road. Access therefore differs between the older cores and the planned estates.
The bag needs to be within about 4 metres of where the lorry can park, on your side of the wall. If the road or driveway is private or shared, check with the owner or managing agent before ordering a skip. Send us a photo if access or space is tight.
