Skip Bags in Southend-on-Sea: what to know
We cover Southend-on-Sea, including Westcliff, the seafront and the streets around the high street, for household and commercial waste.
Southend's housing changes between neighbourhoods. Westcliff and central Southchurch are tightly built Victorian and Edwardian terraces, many converted to flats, with little off-street parking. The centre mixes Victorian terraces with tower blocks and modern flats around Queensway. Prittlewell is mainly inter-war housing at lower density, including the Earls Hall and Manners Way estates of the 1930s. The city's conservation areas include Clifftown, Milton and Warrior Square. In the terraced streets a clearance generally means loading from the kerb, and converted flats add stairs.
The bag needs to be within about 4 metres of where the lorry can park, on your side of the wall. A lot of Southend-on-Sea is terraced streets with no driveways, so a skip has to sit on the road under licence, or the waste goes straight onto a truck instead.
Keep the bag on your own land, in a position the crane can reach. Tell us when it's full and we collect within five working days.
For flats, tell us the floor, whether there is a lift and where we can park. If a skip would need to stand on the road, ask about the permit before choosing a delivery date.
