Site Clearance in Grays: what to know
Grays is the largest town in Thurrock, with older terraced streets around the town centre and station, post-war housing at Stifford Clays and Little Thurrock, and modern estates at Chafford Hundred and Badgers Dene. Retail and trade premises run west towards Lakeside and West Thurrock.
Renovation in Grays is concentrated in the older terraces around Clarence Road and the streets off London Road, which sit inside controlled parking zones, most operating Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm. Regeneration schemes include a pedestrian underpass beneath the railway at the High Street, the planned demolition and redevelopment of three eleven-storey blocks on the Blackshots estate, and new industrial units on the Titan site in Hogg Lane. Loft conversions and rear extensions are typical of the terraced stock, and a skip on the road has to be planned around permit bays.
Access decides the method. For industrial premises, send the entrance width, available loading space and a photo of the waste so we can plan the right vehicle. Send photos of the site and its entrance and we'll say which vehicle we'd bring to Grays: the caged truck with a crew, or the grab lorry for soil and hardcore.
You get a waste transfer note for every load that leaves, which developers, agents and planning conditions from Thurrock Council often ask for. Suspected asbestos is left in place and reported to you.

- Rules
- No booking is needed, but the site is for Thurrock residents only and proof of address is required; trade waste is refused. Small vans and single-axle trailers under 1.8m need a council permit (6 visits a year, or 2 for a hired vehicle), trailers are only admitted on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and larger vehicles such as Ford Transits, Luton vans, tippers, flatbeds and minibuses are not allowed in. Alternative: Linford is the only household waste site in Thurrock. Essex County Council centres such as Pitsea are restricted to residents of the Essex County Council area, so Thurrock households cannot use them.
