Roll on Roll Off in Stanford-le-Hope: what to know
Stanford-le-Hope is a commuter town between the A13 and the Thames, with a small centre around St Margaret's Church and a wide spread of 20th-century houses and bungalows, including The Homesteads to the north. Thurrock's only household tip, at Linford, is a short drive away and the London Gateway port lies to the south-east.
Building work in Stanford-le-Hope is mostly small-scale infill and refurbishment. Six council homes are being built on a disused garage site in Lyndhurst Road, and an industrial site beside the station has been marketed for residential development. In The Homesteads, many original homes have been demolished and replaced with denser modern housing, and work there typically involves replacing or extending the older bungalows. Permit parking areas around London Road, High Street and Southend Road operate Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm, which affects where a skip or delivery lorry can stand.
RoRo containers need hard standing and about 40 feet of straight access for the hook-loader. Around Stanford-le-Hope that usually means a yard, a compound or a car park: Corringham Road, Stanhope Industrial Park and London Gateway port are the kind of sites they suit. For units on trading estates, tell us your opening hours, loading-bay arrangements and when waste can be collected.
We place RoRo containers on private land with suitable hard standing. Send photos of the entrance, turning space and proposed container position before delivery is arranged.

- Rules
- No booking is needed, but the site is for Thurrock residents only and proof of address is required; trade waste is refused. Small vans and single-axle trailers under 1.8m need a council permit (6 visits a year, or 2 for a hired vehicle), trailers are only admitted on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and larger vehicles such as Ford Transits, Luton vans, tippers, flatbeds and minibuses are not allowed in. Alternative: Linford is the only household waste site in Thurrock. Essex County Council centres such as Pitsea are restricted to residents of the Essex County Council area, so Thurrock households cannot use them.
