Man and van rubbish removal in Chingford: what to know
Chingford is the northern end of Waltham Forest, running from the inter-war terraces and semis of South Chingford and Chingford Mount up to North Chingford on the edge of Epping Forest. Waltham Forest issues skip licences only to registered skip operators, and the local Kings Road reuse and recycling centre does not accept vans.
Chingford developed around several centres. Station Road, The Drive and Crescent Road, near the station, were among the first streets with houses; building had spread to Chingford Green, Chingford Mount, the Ridgeway and Sewardstone Road by 1914, and development accelerated after the First World War. Friday Hill is a post-war London County Council estate, and Highams Park is mainly Victorian and 1930s terraced houses. Semi-detached houses commonly have a drive, whereas terraces depend on street parking. Waltham Forest operates controlled parking zones and permit-only streets, so signs need checking before a vehicle is left.
For collections in Chingford, include any controlled parking, red routes or restricted loading bays when you enquire. Access needs checking before we arrange the stop. The crew handles stairs, long carries and rear gardens; tell us about them when you book.
Our Environment Agency waste carrier registration is CB/DU308513. You receive a waste transfer note with the collection address, giving you a record of who collected the waste.
- Charge
- The charge for a standard large item collection is not stated on the council's page (it is shown in the online booking form). Up to 5 non-electrical items per booking; an express collection is available for a fee. Large electrical items are collected separately: £28.00 for one standard size item, £40.00 for two, £50.00 for three (Waltham Forest Service Store), or free through the North London Waste Authority booking (up to 4 items, Fridays).
- Leave items
- Left where the bins are kept (front garden or bin store) by 6am, accessible and visible from the highway; the crew cannot enter the home; items must not be left on the public highway.
- Not taken
- Standard collections exclude electrical items, items containing glass or mirrors, and anything two people cannot move; more than 5 items not accepted.

Man and van rubbish removal in Chingford: your questions
How much is a man and van for rubbish in Chingford?
Per item, with loading included: one £60 base fee per visit, then each item at its rate, so a sofa on its own is £125 and five bin bags are £85. Got your own help? Wait and load is £180 to £540 by the truck load.
Is a man and van cheaper than a skip in Chingford?
It depends on the items and the skip size you would need. An item collection can suit a few things that are ready to go: our crew loads them and there's no skip to leave outside. Compare the item prices with skip hire before booking.
