Garden waste collection in Chigwell: what to know

Chigwell is a largely residential parish on the Central line's Hainault loop, known for large detached houses with private driveways along Manor Road and the High Road, alongside the Limes Farm estate of flats and maisonettes and the semi-rural edge at Chigwell Row. The local tip on Luxborough Lane takes cars only, closes on Wednesdays and Thursdays and does not accept DIY waste or rubble.

Chigwell is a suburb characterised by large houses, particularly along Manor Road, Hainault Road and the High Road. Chigwell Village, around the High Road, is a conservation area designated in 1969 whose historic core is little altered. By contrast the Limes Farm estate at Grange Hill, including Copperfield, consists largely of flats, maisonettes and terraced houses. Chigwell Row, to the east, is a separate wooded hamlet. Houses on the larger plots can generally be loaded from a private drive; on Limes Farm, items often have to come down from upper floors.

Blocks and conversions mean stairs and shared bin stores; the crew brings it all down, so tell us the floor when you book. Rear gardens with no side access are normal for us; we barrow it through the house on sheets if we have to.

Chigwell Recycling Centre takes garden waste. Every car visit must be booked in advance (Blue Badge holders, pedestrians and cyclists are exempt). Cars only: vans, pick-ups and large trailers are not accepted, and the site does not take DIY waste or rubble. For anything bigger than a couple of bags, a collection from your Chigwell garden is usually quicker.
