Commercial Waste in Stanford-le-Hope: what to know
Stanford-le-Hope is a commuter town between the A13 and the Thames, with a small centre around St Margaret's Church and a wide spread of 20th-century houses and bungalows, including The Homesteads to the north. Thurrock's only household tip, at Linford, is a short drive away and the London Gateway port lies to the south-east.
The town centre runs along King Street, High Street and Corringham Road, with further premises at The Green and Wharf Road, and consists largely of independent shops, estate agents, cafes and takeaways, including the units at The Precinct. Free on-street and off-street parking is available at King Street. Stanhope Industrial Estate on Wharf Road contains workshops, yards and warehouse units, and to the south-east the London Gateway port and logistics park occupy the former Shell Haven refinery site. Between them these produce shop packaging and food waste, pallets, strapping, workshop offcuts and yard clearances.
For units on the estates, tell us about opening hours and loading-bay access so we can agree a suitable slot. Every business must be able to show its waste went to a licensed carrier. Ours is CB/DU308513, and each Stanford-le-Hope collection comes with a transfer note.

- Rules
- No booking is needed, but the site is for Thurrock residents only and proof of address is required; trade waste is refused. Small vans and single-axle trailers under 1.8m need a council permit (6 visits a year, or 2 for a hired vehicle), trailers are only admitted on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and larger vehicles such as Ford Transits, Luton vans, tippers, flatbeds and minibuses are not allowed in. Alternative: Linford is the only household waste site in Thurrock. Essex County Council centres such as Pitsea are restricted to residents of the Essex County Council area, so Thurrock households cannot use them.
